Hi, I’m Damjana Loddelina, freelance illustrator and designer based in Franche-Comté, France.

Originally from Ljubljana, Slovenia, I have been living in France since 2010, together with my husband, two kids and a dog. I have a background in textile and fashion design and have spent almost 20 years designing and making handbags and other accessories under the name Loddelina while having some of my early illustrations published in Slovene children's magazines Cicido and Ciciban. Drawing has always been my biggest passion so as my sewing creations gradually became more and more about the free style embroidery and applique, basically drawing with thread, it was time to take a leap into full time illustration!

I have since illustrated a picture book Mr Puddlebrush (published by Puddlebrush Books, July 2022), done individual illustrations for different clients (Portuguese organisation Ajudaris, private commissions) and completed My Year Of Art School with art agents Lilla Rogers and Zoë Tucker and toy and game agent Riley Wilkinson at Make Art That Sells (MATS).

I'm a member of SCBWI and Illoguild, an international group of picture book authors and illustrators.

My favourite mediums, besides digital illustration, are watercolour, gouache and ink; I like to get lost in tiny details, create playful characters and combine lush colours with interesting textures. I am looking forward to working on all sorts of projects, from children's books and greeting cards to editorial illustration, middle grade books and graphic novels.

Represented by Lane Clarke, Ultra Literary Agency.

My tiny desk (and my non-assistant Lisa), set up in the bedrom, where there's the best morning light for drawing.

I inherited my love of sewing from my mother (she made that bunny costume and so many others) and a desire to draw from my father.

Thank you
          for stopping by,

             Damjana
